Roomates on the farm - 1885 historic farmstead

The Sustainable Arts Society at Blue Ridge is located in a restored 1885 historic farmstead situated on 16 acres along the banks of the Toccoa River in Southern Appalachia. Located in the north Georgia mountains, SAS is 2 hours north of Atlanta outside the town of Blue Ridge.

The working farmstead includes an organic vegetable garden, native flower gardens and fruit trees. The historic Victorian farm house features a comfortable interior with 5 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, wrap around porches, 6 out buildings and barns, and 2 artist studios. Artists in residence are encouraged to participate in activities on the farm and to explore the surrounding area of river, lakes and forests.

Life on the farm is full of simple pleasures, and the rhythm of life rises and sets with the sun and seasons.

"The landscape! It feels like I have the entire forest to myself, and it speaks to me in crow calls, snaps and feathery evergreen songs."
Ande Cook, Local Artist and Wilderness Devotee

"I was born and raised here in this wonderful rural community. The simple life here simply inspires!"
Karen Neal, Facilities Manager

"Given the complexity and velocity of the modern world, this simple and beautiful place is a necessary and vital resource for creativity."
